Hall County Schools Partners with Purposity: Your Tool For Good

In Local Area News

Would you help if a student in your community needed winter clothes or a family lost their home in a fire? We think so. Purposity connects you to local needs posted by our school social work team. Get weekly text, read the story and decide if you’ll help right from your phone. It takes a few clicks and under two minutes to shape a child’s future and make a difference in your own backyard.

Hall County School System is looking for your help launching a new app that connects the community to the children and families who need assistance in our communities. Before we can post needs for our students we must have at least 400 followers. Anyone in the community can download the app and select Hall County Schools beginning Friday, November 15, 2019.

The free app is called Purposity. It works when school social workers and our homeless liaison identify and upload needs within the school district. For example, a first grader could be in need of a winter coat,
while a third grader could use blankets and a pillow. A high schooler might use a calculator for a special math class and a family might need a griddle or a space heater.

Dubbed Your Tool for Good, the Purposity app sends a weekly notification to users with a need in their area. With just a few clicks, people can satisfy needs ranging from shoes and jackets for a local student to small household items for a family.  The app also features user profiles that track donors’ allowing them to see their impact. “We wanted to create a way for communities to connect and unite in a meaningful way,” stated Blake Canterbury, founder and CEO. “Our belief is that if you knew your neighbor needed help, you’d help.”

Once we have at least 400 followers the social worker and homeless liaison who work with the school counselors across the county will begin to submit the requests through the app. Users are notified of the
need and can choose to buy the item with one simple click. The user will be taken to Amazon, to purchase the item and have it shipped directly to the school system. Social Workers and counselors who
know the students and their families best, will vet the requests. The requested item is in the hands of the social worker in just a few days for delivery to the student or family. No money touches any hands at all.

We all know that a lack of basic needs has a major effect on a child’s ability to learn and socialize with their peers. If a student doesn’t have to worry about a pair of pants or shoes he’s wearing that are falling apart then he can focus on what he needs to be focusing on at school. Hopefully, in the end, it will improve academics, as well as social experiences for our kids at school, which we know, are incredibly

Hall County Schools will launch this project on Friday, November 15, 2019. Get the word out and share with friends, churches, family members, and neighborhoods. To join the movement and team up with

Hall County Schools as we strive to be the “Most Caring Place On Earth”, download the Purposity app from the App Store or Google Play and be sure to follow Hall County Schools. It takes just a few clicks
and under a minute to make a difference for a fellow community member.
