Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will install lane closures this weekend related to bridge rehabilitation activities on the I-85 at Piedmont Road overpass bridge in Fulton County.
Weather permitting, two right lanes will be closed on I-85 northbound between SR 13/Buford Highway Connector ramp and SR 400 beginning Friday, November 15 from 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18.
These closures will help ensure safety of work crews and drivers as crews perform maintenance and preservation activities to the bridge structure. Lane closures will be restricted to weekends to avoid peak commute travel; however, shoulder lanes may be closed on weekdays as needed.
This work is needed to rehabilitate, repair and preserve the 4,000 foot-long bridge structure and is scheduled for completion in April 2020.
Message boards will give drivers advance notice of the upcoming closures. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use alternate routes, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
