Upcoming improvements planned for intersections on State Route 371/ Post Road

In Local Area News

Georgia DOT and Forsyth County will collaborate on upcoming intersection improvements on State Route 371(SR 371)/Post Road at Bentley Road and at Pittman Road.

The Georgia DOT’s maintenance forces will increase the size of the existing concrete island on the south side of Bentley Road. This work should begin in the next two months.

This larger concrete island will mean drivers on Bentley Road will be able to turn right headed southbound on SR 371/Post Road. No left turns from Bentley will be allowed once this change is made.  Westbound left turns from SR 371/Post Road onto Bentley Road will remain as they are today.

Specific work hours and lane closures will be communicated in the coming weeks. Currently the completion date for these improvements is Friday, November 8, 2019.

Forsyth County will partner in the improvements along SR 371/Post Road by installing a traffic signal at the intersection of Pittman Road. The County will generate the signal design, apply for the permit, and install the signal. Georgia DOT will provide the signal equipment.

This collaborative effort will allow this project to be done quickly and increase safety for Post Road and Pittman Road drivers.
