Friday morning at approximately 9:00AM, a staff member at North Hall High School observed a non- permitted vehicle on campus and reported it to the school administration.
Upon further observation, school officials noticed what appeared to be a firearm inside the vehicle. The vehicle belonged to a student. Law enforcement was contacted immediately.
Both the student (a juvenile) and the parents would not consent to a search of the vehicle.
As a result, the Hall County Sherriff’s Department impounded the vehicle, and upon obtaining a search warrant, discovered a firearm, illegal drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
The student was charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds, disruption of a public school, and possession of marijuana. The student is now in custody.
The student has been suspended pending a disciplinary tribunal. Additionally, the district is working with the Hall County Sherriff’s Department to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
This is an on-going criminal investigation and all inquiries regarding details of the case should be directed to the Hall County Sheriff’s Department.
