The Hall County School District has selected Ms. Jessica Cain, first grade teacher of Lanier Elementary school, as its 2021 District Teacher of the Year. Ms. Cain will now advance and be among the state of Georgia’s elite instructors considered for the honor of state teacher of the year.
Ms. Cain began her journey as an educator in 2013, serving as a substitute teacher and a kindergarten paraprofessional at Lanier Elementary School. In 2014, impressed with her performance and ability to connect with students, Principal John Wiggins hired Ms. Cain as a first grade teacher.
“Mrs. Cain works tirelessly to meet the needs of her students in an
engaging, fun, and challenging classroom that instills each child with a joy for learning every day. She creates a warm, nurturing, and caring environment for her boys and girls that embodies her classroom theme of The Happiest Place on Earth,” said Wiggins.
In addition to her instructional duties, Ms. Cain serves on the school leadership team, acts as first grade representative, and sponsors the school yearbook. She is also a participant in the district’s Growing Teacher Leaders program.
Ms. Cain is a product of the Hall County School District and a graduate of East Hall High School.
She is married to husband Derek Cain, a Hall County EMT/firefighter. They have two children, Riley and Mason.
